NYSCAA’s Policy Agenda:
Statement 1:
The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) was created to fund Community Action Agencies’ anti-poverty work. The NYS Community Action Network requests that CSBG funds be used ONLY to fund or support Community Action Agencies’ and other CSBG Eligible Entities’ work. In support of innovative programs and activities, all discretionary funds should be awarded only to local programs operated by Community Action Agencies and other CSBG Eligible Entities.
Statement 2:
New York’s network of 49 Community Action Agencies is the federally designated anti-poverty network serving New York State for over fifty years. Community Action Agencies (and other CSBG Eligible Entities) are more than the programs and resources they provide to the community. The Community Action network is built on the expertise and experience of dedicated and knowledgeable individuals recognized in each community as poverty fighting experts.
