Family Support Worker

Brief Job Description:

Family Support Worker (FSW): Pro Action’s Resilient Children and Families program is accepting applications for a Family Support Worker to provide supportive services to families utilizing our Family Resource Centers.
The FSW will provide short term intervention to families in need of support for issues including custody, child welfare, divorce, grief, emotional well-being, and family relationships. The FSW will conduct a needs assessment and customize services based on the needs of each family.
This full-time, benefit-eligible opportunity requires a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or Education – or – an associate degree and equivalent experience in a related field.
The FSW must have knowledge of strength-based home visiting and child development and understand the issues and challenges that affect children and families. Home visiting experience and a working knowledge of community resources is required.
Skills required of the FSW include strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent time management, and teamwork. This position requires a driver’s license meeting agency standards and consistent, reliable transportation.
Daily responsibilities of the FSW include providing families with support and informal counseling and facilitating connections to other services and supports. Meeting with families in their homes, at Family Resource Centers, or other community locations will be part of the FSW’s daily responsibilities. With the goal of strengthening the protective factors of each family, the FSW will engage families in two-generation activities and will deliver customized curriculums and supports, based on the unique needs of each family.
