Brief Job Description:

Qualified Nutritionist – Pro Action’s WIC Program is accepting applications for the position of Qualified Nutritionist. Working as part of the team ensuring access to good nutrition for children’s healthy growth and development, the Qualified Nutritionist performs assessments, determines program eligibility and enrolls eligible participants and plays a major role in providing relevant nutrition education for participants and coworkers.
If you have either the minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Registered Dietitian (RD/’RDN), we encourage you to apply for this 30-hour per week, benefit eligible position.
Responsibilities of the Qualified Nutritionist include performing nutrition assessments including anthropometry and hematologic measurements, determining applicant eligibility and enrolling eligible participants. Providing and documenting participant-centered nutrition education that is responsive to the needs of participants is a major responsibility for the QN. You will also provide referrals to other health and social service agencies as appropriate and implement individual care plans and track progress and document outcomes of participants.
The QN assists with the orientation and training of new WIC staff, participates in community outreach activities and travels to WIC clinics within the service area, which involves some evening and weekend hours. A valid driver’s licenses meeting agency standards is required for the QN position.
