The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking a School Nurse Program Manager to provide leadership and consultation to children and families served in local preschool program. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in a work schedule that aligns with a typical school day and offers paid school shut down weeks (February, April and December) as well as weekends and holidays.
More specifically the School Nurse Program Manager will:
Write and implement health and safety policies and procedures for the agency and Early Childhood program in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, OCFS, and Health Department standards.
Engage in networking with health community stakeholders to enhance agency and program collaborations to help meet health needs of staff community, and families.
Provide Technical Assistance and ongoing support to agency and staff to support the implementation of health and safety plans.
Provide on- going observation, support, training, and monitoring of the health staff.
Develop and oversee a system for maintenance of individual child health records as well as the corresponding electronic database. Review, evaluate, and interpret health records, vital statistics, health histories and other data impacting health and follow up.
Establish and implement a system for providing health education to families through workshops, parent meetings, handouts, etc.
Collect and monitor necessary data to ensure program compliance with all regulatory entities, while best meeting the health needs of children and families.
RN certification and three years’ experience working in the health arena and an Associate's degree in Nursing or related field. Prior experience working with pediatric patients and disadvantaged families. Valid NYS Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
